A message from AFSA Warning About Fraudulent Emails

Dear AFSA Members,


We have become aware of a scam email targeting our members. It attempts to “clear outstanding invoices and requests an up to date SOA showing all unpaid/outstanding invoices for our monthly audit as directed by the BOD.”


The fraudulent message can be identified by:


The sender’s email appears twice, once as a fraudulent AFSA account and as a Gmail account.


The phone number in the sender’s signature line is not AFSA’s phone number.


Subject line is “Request for Outstanding Statement.”


While the email has the “look” of an AFSA email, please be aware that it is not legitimate. Brendan Matthews is not employed by AFSA.


What to do if you receive this email:

    

Do not reply to the email.

Do not click on any links or download any attachments.

Delete the email from your inbox immediately.


If you clicked a link or provided any information:


Change your password for our service and any other accounts where you use the same password.


Contact AFSA at (214) 349-5965 to report the incident.


How to verify future communications:


We will never ask for your password or sensitive account information via email.


Official communications from us will always come from our verified domain, @firesprinkler.org.


If you are ever unsure about an email, navigate to our official website by typing the address directly into your browser, not by clicking a link in an email.
